The Lizard

The Lizard has a simple life,
He darts quickly in and out
Over rocks and around the garden
Fast as lightning, then slowing down
Contemplating the next step,
He lives simply to survive
No fights or disappointments
No heartbreak or even cries
There's no washing to put out,
No major pain to endure
No emotions are there to bear,
No major deadline to pursue.
His life is simple, he does simple things
I watch him, slithering out and in,
And as I wipe away my tears,
I sit there, wishing I were him.
